Taking a break from looking into steroids in baseball and the naming of bridges, the U.S. Senate has finally tackled the most-pressing issue facing our country, one that has been on the throats of Americans long enough. It has officially named July 13 as Collector Car Appreciation Day. The nightmare has ended.
Actually, this year’s CCAD will be the third consecutive. The nightmare is a recurring one; Freddie never truly goes away. However, each year, the day has to be re-dubbed by the senate. This year’s battle was fought by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils who worked with Senator Jon Tester (D-Mon.) and Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.) of the Congressional Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus to get the day named.
Talking about this milestone event, SEMA Vice President of Government Affairs Steve McDonald said, “We are grateful for the U.S. Senate’s recognition of the collector car hobby as an American pastime and means of individual expression. Collector Car Appreciation Day is also singular tribute to the collector car industry and the millions of hobbyists it supports. Restoration businesses help preserve our nation’s heritage while providing well-paying, high-skilled jobs nationwide.”
Of course, there hasn’t been any real mention of vintage motorcycles, and whether they are to be appreciated on July 13. Of course, you can show your bike some real, concrete appreciation by making sure you have a classic motorcycle insurance policy covering it.
