The temperatures are warming and the rain and snow are about to clear, so what is on your mind? It ought to be your motorcycle, vintage or otherwise. Who really cares about spring cleaning when there is a bike in the garage that is aching to exercise?
Before you turn your motor over the first time there are eight good tips to follow:
- Change the oil and filter
- Check the belt or chain
- Check nuts and bolts
- Inspect tires
- Look for fluid leaks
- Check all lights
- Brush up on your riding skills and
- Update your vintage motorcycle insurance policy
Some of these tips sound like basic common sense, but can often be overlooked int the rush to ride for the first time of the year. Vintage bikes do not weather winter quite as easily as modern, fuel-injected, electric-ignition machines. You have to be more attuned to the needs of an older bike, and following these tips will help you.
